Nupur Sharma was born in New Delhi in 1985. She hails from a family of civil servants and businessmen, with her mother originating from Dehradun. Her education journey started at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road. She later pursued a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Hindu College at Delhi University. Following that, she earned a Bachelor of Laws from Delhi University. During her student days, she became a part of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Sangh Parivar.
She achieved the presidency of the Delhi University Students Union in 2008, breaking an eight-year-long dry spell for ABVP. Notably, during this time, she led an ABVP group to confront S. A. R. Geelani in a faculty seminar on ‘Communalism, Fascism and Democracy: Rhetoric and Reality’. After attaining a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics at the University of London, Nupur Sharma pursued a career in law.
