He was the youngest of four children to Pandit Benares Tiwari and Hemwanti Tiwari. His father is both a farmer and a Hindu priest. In his early years, Tripathi helped his father on the farm and even performed in local plays during festivals, often playing the role of a girl.
After completing his 11th standard of school, he moved to Patna. There, he studied at the Institute of Hotel Management in Hajipur. Following seven years in Patna, he shifted to Delhi to attend the National School of Drama, from which he graduated in 2004.

His initial roles included a politician in a Tata tea Advertisement and an uncredited part in the film “Run.” He also acted in a Kannada movie called “Chigurida Kanasu” alongside Dr. Shiva Rajkumar in 2003.
