Pooja Bhatt had an early start in acting, making her debut at age 17 in 1989 with the TV film “Daddy,” directed by her father Mahesh Bhatt. Her performance as a soul-searching teenage girl in a troubled relationship with her alcoholic father earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Her big break in mainstream cinema came with the romantic comedy “Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin” (1991) alongside Aamir Khan. She continued to appear in several well-known films throughout the 1990s, including “Sadak,” “Jaanam,” “Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee,” “Sir,” “Tadipaar,” “Naaraaz,” “Hum Dono,” “Angrakshak,” “Chaahat,” “Tamanna,” “Border,” and “Zakhm.”
In the early 2000s, she shifted focus to producing and directing.
