She got married to Nikhil Nanda, a businessman from the Escorts Group, on 16 February 1997. Nikhil Nanda is the son of Ritu Nanda, who is the daughter of Hindi film actor-producer Raj Kapoor, and Rajan Nanda. Shweta and Nikhil have two children together – a daughter named Navya Naveli Nanda, born in December 1997, and a son named Agastya Nanda, born in November 2000. She attended Boston University.
