The Great Khali Career
In 1999, Dalip Singh Rana arrived in America as a refugee and joined the All Pro Wrestling boot camp to learn wrestling. Using the name Giant Singh, he had his first wrestling match on October 7, 2000, facing Tony Jones. While training with Brian Ong on May 28, 2001, a move called flapjack went wrong.
Ong, instead of following instructions, grabbed Singh’s shirt, causing him to fall on his tailbone and hit his head hard on the mat. Sadly, Ong had previously suffered a concussion that went unnoticed by APW trainers. Tragically, Ong passed away due to this incident. Following careful consideration, Ong’s family took legal action against APW, holding them accountable for the tragedy. As a result, they were awarded $1.3 million in damages.
